With the fall sports coming to a close, athletes from Grossmont College, San Bernardino Valley College, Mt. San Jacinto College and San Diego City College earned athletes-of-the-month for November. Mt. San Jacinto's Deshawn Millington and San Diego City's Robby Robinson were named the male athletes-of-the-month while Grossmont's Shaney Lipscomb and San Bernardino Valley's Nayeli Sandoval were named the female athletes-of-the-month.
Robby Robinson, San Diego City (basketball)
Robinson, a freshman forward from Kearny High, is averaging 13.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.8 steals through the first month of the season. He has recorded six double-doubles in 13 games and has helped his team win one tournament championship and reach the final of two others. He was named MVP of the Knights' Invitational after averaging 21 points and 10.5 rebounds in two season-opening wins. He scored a season-high 25 points to go with 11 rebounds against Citrus in the title game. Robinson put up 15 points, a season-high 17 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals in a win over Desert to start the Grossmont tournament on November 30. He averaged 16.3 points, 14 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks in three games at that tournament as the Knights advanced to the title game.
Deshawn Millington, Mt. San Jacinto (basketball)
Millington led MSJC to an 8-1 record in November and No. 2 ranking in Southern California. He averaged 15.6 points during the team's nine games in November and had a season best 25 points against Cuesta College on November 16. In addition to his scoring, Millington averaged 5.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.7 steals-per-game in November.
Nayeli Sandoval, San Bernardino Valley (soccer)
Sandoval scored six goals in the month of November, including the game-tying goal in stoppage time of the second round of the playoffs against Chaffey. She also scored the game-winner in the shootout against Cerritos to send the Wolverines to the Final Four.
Shaney Lipscomb, Grossmont (volleyball)
Lipscomb was first team all-conference selection and was vital to Grossmont's success this season. She had 15 kills and nine digs in a win against conference champion San Diego Mesa. In the first round of regional playoffs versus Long Beach City, Lipscomb had 16 kills and nine digs. In four matches played in November, Lipscomb finished with 55 kills (13.75/games), seven service aces (1.75/game) and 39 digs (9.75/game).
